EVCOM Gold winning drama for NPSA and the Home Office.
In the aftermath of a bomb explosion every second counts and every action can help save a life.
Filmed in a closed Heathrow Terminal 4 over three days, we had a team of 32 crew, 12 actors, 25 Stunt & Specialist Support Artists and over 200 Support Artists to dress and fill the terminal.
After rehearsing and filming a pre-explosion “normality” 10 minute sequence (across 22 CCTV cameras), we had 3 hours to redress the terminal to create the post explosion environment. We also put most of our onscreen talent through a quick make up, VFX and wardrobe change to sell the situation and also filming an 8 minute drama from the POV of an airport member of staff rushing to help in the aftermath of the explosion.

EVCOM Silver winning drama.
Faced with a burning building and an armed attack outside, what would you do?
A continuation of my work for the Security Control Room Operators course for NPSA and the Home Office, this project was commissioned to add a multi-threat, highly complex ‘Fire As A Weapon’ element to the interactive training resource to really push the participants on the last day of the course and fully test all they have learnt.
Trying to find a location that would allow us to set it on fire, and not matter how controlled it was, proved to be very difficult, so instead we went a CG route. Using green screen and clever art department, we created an area of the location that can have the CG fire added to it. Then, after filming our 28 x 20 minute single take CCTV feeds, we rebuilt the location (this involved photomapping and creating a fully 360 photorealistic model) and added the fire and smoke FX using compositing, rotoscoping and 3D modelling.
By focusing on the same characters in the same situation, but with one significant change (the SCR making regular announcements) we were able to show how that one action by the SCR can really shape people’s responses and save lives.
Shot across three days, this involved filming multiple scenes at the same time, with slight variations and character action changes, in order to make the two divergent narratives.

Who is the farmer? Who is the girl in his cabin? And why does he kill?
This short film was commissioned by The UK Film Council and North West Vision and has screened in festivals around the world, winning the Best Horror/Fantasy film at the London Short Film Festival 2011.
Aint it Cool News described it as “An insane fest of fantasy fun” and it was the cause for me to have a 2-hour long debate on how exactly a werewolf sounds.

How do you deal with problems in life, and does that differ than at work?
This film for DP World had the challenge of highlighting the softer skills around safety issues such as speaking out when you see something and not letting bad habits continue unchecked.
Filmed across three days on location at DP World London Gateway, the key to this film was in the casting and in the authenticity of the main cast’s performances; as this is an internal training film, it will be viewed exclusively by the workers themselves, so any inauthentic action will be scrutinised heavily.
Fortunately, we were able to work with a great cast to bring this world to life and gave them all a crash course into life working on a dock.
Filming on a working site the size of a port can pose its own challenges, Health and Safety risk assessments, communication and exact planning, were the key to being able to film without incident or disruption to the multi-million-pound operation.
Working with London Gateway we were able to deliver a training package that is used by DP World across its sites around the world.

EVCOM winning drama for NPSA and the Home Office. When faced with an MTA-type terrorist attack, what should you do?
How can shop workers help save the lives of the general public?
This drama is used to educate employes in high-profile terrorist target sites on what to do should an MTA happen.
Shot in Canary Wharf in the not-yet-opened Elizabeth Line concourse, we turned an empty unit into a Shoreditch hipster coffee shop and filled it with SAs and the smell of roast beans! This drama is part of a CCTV deliverable where we produced 10 live feeds of uninterrupted 20 minute action of a terrorist attack.

Used by NPSA and NaCTSO to brief important people and people in the public eye who are potentially at risk, these films showcase the measures that can be installed and employed around the home to protect against forced entry.
These two films - one from the attacker's POV and one from the victim's POV - were shot at the same time, across two days and involved practical FX and a lot of film magic to make the doors and windows seem reinforced and protected.

20 minute single location drama for NPSA and the Home Office.
How should an SCR respond to a crisis?
From the point of view of a security control room, this single location 20 min drama focuses on the aftermath of a PBIED attack at an airport and how the three SCR workers can help save lives.
Shot across 2 days, we rehersed the 25-page script extensively on the first day and then ran the filming as uninterrupted as possible to create a semblance of reality and keep the intensity and claustrophobia of the control room.
